Spinefolk can import a CSV from Hardcover, from Fable (by listing your books in a spreadsheet), or from your own spreadsheet. You see a preview before anything is saved, and you can undo the whole import afterwards.
1Get a CSV
- Hardcover: open your account settings and look for the option to export your library. It downloads a CSV file. (Menus change, so if you cannot find it, check Hardcover's help pages.)
- Fable or another app with no export: type your books into any spreadsheet and save it as CSV (File, then Download or Save as, then CSV).
- Your own list: a spreadsheet with a header row works fine.
2Make sure the columns are recognizable
Spinefolk matches your columns by name. You need two:
- Title
- Author
These optional columns are used when they are present:
- ISBN (or ISBN13): the most accurate way to match a book
- Status: Read, Currently Reading, Want to Read, or Did Not Finish
- Rating: 0 to 5, including halves and quarters
- Pages, Format, Review, and Date Finished
3Import it
- Create your free Spinefolk account (or sign in).
- Open Settings, then Library, then Import.
- Choose your CSV file.
- Look over the preview of the first few books and the counts, then choose whether to add the books to your library as owned or keep them as reading history.
- Confirm.
Changed your mind?
After an import you can tap Undo this import. It removes only what that import added. Books, ratings and reading statuses you already had are never touched, and undoing is available again later from the import page.
